Get to Pattaya

The comfortable way to reach Pattaya is by bus. Buses are available from Bangkok's new Airport and the Eastern and Northern Bus Terminal in every 30 minutes. If you like to drive yourself and reach Pattaya then there are lot of options to rent a motorcycle, bike, car or jeep.

There is lot of options for active visitors in Pattaya. It is considered as one of the oldest diving centers in this part of Asia. Facilities for activities such as windsurfing, water skiing, sea walking, swim sunbathing, snorkeling, sailing and fishing are available at reasonable rates.

Car : Road traffic provides 2 alternative ways as follows :

-First alternative, 788 km from Bangkok, taking Highway No.4 to Prachuap Khiri Khan - Chumphon - Ranong and then continue to Phang Nga that takes about 12 hrs.

-Second alternative, from Bangkok follow the Highway No.4 to Chumphon, and from Chumphon taking Highway No.41 to Amphoe Thachang. At the intersection of Thachang turn right along Highway No.401 to Amphoe Ban Ta khun for 50 kms. Then taking Highway No.415 for 30 km and turn right to Phang Nga. If you start from Phuket, take Highway No.402 via Sarasin Bridge to Ban Khok Kloi and turn right through Ampher Takuathung. After some 1 hr and 30 min you will be arriving Phang Nga.

Bus :From the Southern Bus Terminal (at Boromratchchonnani Rd.) air-conditioned buses are available from Bangkok to Phang Nga everyday.

Airplane : Thai Airways operates daily flights from Bangkok to Phuket. Further transportation from Phuket to Phangnga (58 km) are available.

Train : The State Railways Authority of Thailand provides several daily trains from Bangkok to Surat Thani, and go further to Phang Nga by taking a 2-hour bus.

To get to Mu Koh Similan National Park

The national park is about 76 km from Thaplamu Pier, Amphoe Thymuang, Phang Nga Province. The best time to visit the national park is during January-March that is free from monsoons.

Situating in the deep sea of Andaman Sea, Mu Koh Similan National Park is consisting of 9 islands, stretching from South to North. Their calling names begin from the southernmost island up to the northernmost island; Koh Nung (first island), Koh Song (second island), Koh Sam (third island), …, Koh Kao (ninth island), respectively.

GET TO PHA NGAN ISLAND

The ferry from the Gulf coast leaves Ban Don pier in Surat Thani at 11pm every night for the ferry pier at Thong Sala, tickets are available from the pier on the day of departure. One Songserm express boat a day runs from Tha Thong to Thong Sala. Three express boats a day take 45-minute trip from Na Thon on Samui Island, while two of them cover the same route. Two vehicle ferries a day sail from Don Sak, 68km east of Surat Thani, to Thong Sala, with connecting busses form Surat to Don Sak, run by Samui tour. Small boats also shuttle between Samui Island and the eastern side of Pha Ngan Island, and speed boats form Bophut, Maenam and Nathon on Samui call in at Thong Sala after thirty minutes on their way to Tao Island.

Three kinds of vessel run between Pha Ngan Island and Tao Island, though form roughly June to November they are occasionally cancelled due to bad weather. At least two speed boats a day cover the distance in 50min, two express boats a day take 1hr 30min, and one slow boat spends 3hr over it. From Bangkok, bus and train packages similar to those for getting to Samui Island are available.
